Project: CityWave
Location: Milan, Italy
On September 8, 2021, a groundbreaking ceremony for “CityWave,” the final building completing the CityLife development, took place in Milan. Attendees included Aldo Mazzocco, CEO of Generali Real Estate and President of CityLife, Milan Mayor Giuseppe Sala, CityLife CEO Armando Borghi, and Bjarke Ingels, founding partner of BIG-Bjarke Ingels Group. The project was designed by BIG, with our office serving as local architect. The building will operate entirely on renewable energy. Around 11,000 square meters of photovoltaic panels are planned to generate an estimated 1,200 MWh of energy per year. The project has received LEED Platinum pre-certification.
